Adey Steel was awarded the contract to manufacture and supply 800 tonnes of façade retention steelwork at the Lots Road Power Station redevelopment project in Chelsea, London.
The high-profile project included providing a design solution for three core towers along the length of the interior of the building, with each tower featuring multiple ‘branches’ at four levels reaching out to support ring beams fixed to the interior walls.
The project held challenges due to the scale of the existing building and the legacy of basements and pits in the internal floors. 100 year-old steelwork from the original build was negotiated as the 800 tonnes of support steel was erected; as a result crane and access equipment had to be tailored to suit these limiting conditions.
