Adey Steel Seals Rugby 10’s Team Crowned Champions
Huge congratulations to the Adey Steel Seals Rugby 10’s team who held out Nottingham Rugby in the final of the Robbie’s Rugby Festival to be crowned Cup Champions for the 2nd time in the history of the Charity Rugby 10’s Tournament.
The tournament, in its eighth year, was held at Quorn Playing Fields outside of Loughborough on Saturday 16th July and was in support of two wonderful charities, Robbie Anderson Cancer Trust and The Jake McCarthy Foundation who support Children’s Cancer Care and Brain Tumour Awareness respectively. The event has got bigger and better each year and this year attracted over 30 teams and 2000 spectators for a day of outstanding rugby with an electric atmosphere.
The Champions squad was made up of 18 Loughborough Grammar School old boys who despite playing very little rugby together for years came together incredibly as a team and outperformed some tough competition. They beat Nottingham Rugby in a tense final which went to the wire with a strong line break putting Seals ahead by one with only a few minutes to play, thankfully they held Nottingham out for the remainder of the game to win with celebrations going on well into the night.
A huge well done to all involved and Adey Steel Group look forward to supporting both Robbie’s Rugby Festival and sponsoring the Seals again in 2017 in their attempt to hold on to the silverware.
