Adey Steel has manufacturered and supplied two Goliath Cranes for a highly specialised industrial processing end client.
One of the UK's largest independent specialist steel infrastructure fabricators, Adey Steel constructed two thirty five-metre wide Goliath Cranes together with seven-metre high support legs, each with one fixed and one pivot leg assemblies, at its headquarters in Lougborough.
Also supplied with the frame were two four rope crabs, powered swivel ring and variable grab frame. The latter was manufactured with pre-machined pins to a finished fabrication tolerance of 0.05mm on the two pin centres. The quality achieved was to Execution Class 3 with 100 % NDT and EN1090 grade B welding inspection criteria.
Once complete, the Goliath Cranes were delivered by Adey Steel to their premises with the crane broken down into transportable sections, the biggest being two box booms at 1.5m x 800mm x 24 m long. The complete unit was assembled with minimal problems using match marked components.
