Adey Steel has provided a full design and manufacture service for a new Gasification Facility in Surrey.
The new gasification plant, in Shepperton, provides a bulk material handling solution for the storage and discharge of refuse-derived fuel (RDF). Once fully operational, it will take approximately 40,000 tonnes of residual food waste from households across North Surrey every year and process it to generate 3.5MWs of energy for the national grid - enough to power 8,000 homes.
The project, which was carried out on behalf of one of our key customers, Saxlund International, involved the use of almost 250 tonnes of steel by the team at Adey Steel's headquarters in Loughborough for the main bunker and associated steelwork. The facility forms part of a new innovative, new Eco Park which was developed by SUEZ Recycling and Recovery as part of its 25-year PFI contract with Surrey County Council.
