Adey Steel has completed the supply and install of a temporary gantry.
The Loughborough-based specialist steel fabricator operates across a number of infrastructure sectors including rail, highways and energy in the UK.
The family-owned-and-operated business, which was founded in 1925, was appointed to design, fabricate, supply and erect onsite modular structural steelwork (and associated components) for use as a temporary access and lifting gantry on a major rail infrastructure project. The integrated traversing lifting beam, which can travel the full width of the gantry, has a safe working load of 1.5 tonnes.
The 11.5-metre-high gantry came with protection rails and balustrades to the rear and sides plus a gantry frame track and GRP flooring complete with supports and access hatches. The gantry also featured ship ladders together with fall protection mesh.
A partial test fit was also completed by Adey Steel off-site prior to installation. All elements of the project were completed in accordance with the National Structural Steel Specification (NSSS).
