Adey Steel has played a key supporting role in the creation of a new Transport Hub at Nottingham Railway Station.
The multi-million pound re-development project saw the construction of an interchange connecting the city’s Nottingham Express Transit (NET) trams and trains. Specialist steel fabricator Adey Steel fabricated and supplied over 250 tonnes of steelwork to form the main structural frame for the new Southern Concourse.
Adey Steel also oversaw the on-site installation of the steelwork, which was adjacent to the live railway lines and the construction of the new tram bridge, over a three and a half month period.
It was also commissioned by the customer to supply steelwork for a new canopy covering Platform 6 at the station, spanning 173 metres. Installation was carried out during a station closure, with many components pre-assembled at the Adey Steel factory in Loughborough, using the latest Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), to speed-up installation on site.
The involvement of Adey Steel didn't end there with the family owned and operated business involved in strengthening the existing station structure for the aforementioned new tram bridge.
