Scope = SmartValve Structures - with gantries and support.
Adey Steel partnered with leading experts in the energy sector to deliver SmartValve structures to the National Grid SubStation Network throughout the UK. The multi-million-pound project pioneered the successful development and
implementation of new power distribution technology across the UK networks. These specific structures were complemented by a series of gantries and structures to support the transmission of power around each site.
This new design and technology is being installed on circuits at three substations in the North of England – Harker in Carlisle, Penwortham in Preston, and Saltholme in Stockton-on-Tees. The sites were identified as needing a solution to solve the bottleneck of renewable power.
The project involved circa 300 tonnes of SmartValve structures and 200 tonnes of gantries and supports all delivered on a
tight schedule.
With Adey Steel’s contribution, this has meant that the business has played a large part in assisting with the supply of
renewable energy and helping to achieve a cleaner and more affordable future for energy.
