Adey Steel has manufactured and supplied upwards of 1,000 tonnes of fabricated steelwork as part of the the Greater Eastern electrification programme.
The first major upgrade of the Greater Eastern line since the 1950s with the introduction of a new auto-tension system to make train journeys more reliable in the summer months, Adey Steel provided a selection of OLE steelwork to Network Rail including:
- WPE/IPE anchor booms
- Twin track cantilevers
- Tapered twin track cantilevers
- HEB & SHS Masts
- Tlescopic struts
- Q/J booms
- Foundation and support brackets
All steelwork was fabricated to CE marking Execution Class II and galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461:2009 by the Loughborough-based steel fabrication infrastructure specialist.
Detailed inspection and test plans were conducted throughout the programme of works by Adey Steel while jigs were produced to ensure consistency throughout as well as speed up production. Additionally, all component parts were pre-assembled for to make transportation and installation easier onsite.
