Transpennine Route Upgrade

As part of the multi-billion-pound Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), Adey Steel has been instrumental in delivering essential piling solutions to support the electrification and structural enhancements across the North of England.

  • Piling Expertise: Adey Steel secured contracts to fabricate and deliver tubular piles, a critical component for the installation of overhead line equipment (OLE) structures.

  • Electrification Support: The fabricated piles are designed to support the OLE, facilitating the transition to electric train services and contributing to the project's goal of a fully electrified railway between Manchester and York.

  • Collaboration with Murphy Group: While Murphy Group leads the civil engineering efforts, including track renewal and bridge upgrades, Adey Steel's specialised piling solutions ensure the structural integrity necessary for the OLE infrastructure.

Adey Steel's expertise in steel fabrication and piling has been pivotal in advancing the TRU project, ensuring the successful implementation of electrification and structural enhancements that will modernise rail travel across the North of England.

To support the installation of this equipment Adey Steel, which operates a dedicated 30,000 square foot piling facility at its purpose-built headquarters in Loughborough, has fabricated, welded, tested and delivered some 500 plus tonnes of 610 x 16 CHS bossed piles.
