Adey Steel has supplied a range of steelwork for a single span bridge at Whitacre Heath in Warwickshire.
The steel fabrication infrastructure specialist was commissioned to help support the replacement 18 metre pedestrian footbridge on the outskirts of Birmingham.
The original bridge, which had been constructed circa 1900, was extensively corroded due to a failed protective paint system.
Adey Steel provided both the steel handrails for both sets of stairs together the steel trestles. The bridge also incorporated the lattice work of the old bridge into the design.
The footbridge, which was installed over an 18 week period, was supplied with anti-slip and waterproof surfacing on the deck and also anti-slip GRP tactile surfacing on the stairs.
Adey Steel has installed a number of footbridges in the West Midlands in recent years. These include a rail footbridge at Oakengates in Shropshire and more recently the Severn Valley Rail Footbridge in Kidderminster.
