Adey Steel has completed the installation of a new rail footbridge at Oakengates.
The fabricated steel bridge, which was commissioned by the main contractor, formed a key part of a £1m improvement scheme for the popular Shropshire town.
The 25-metre steel structure replaced the existing dilapidated bridge and provided local residents with greatly improved access facilities between Station Fields and Hancocks Drive in the area neighbouring Oakengates Station.
The bridge was painted on the internal faces and left as weathering steel on the external faces to minimise disruption of painting repairs over the track in future years. It was also fabricated to the strict requirements of Network Rail specifications, with all welding carried out under EN 1090 and ISO 3834 accreditations.
