Adey Steel has completed the supply and install of a railway footbridge at Severn Valley in Kidderminster.
The Loughborough-based specialist steel fabricator was commissioned to replace an old wooden footbridge with a new footbridge to the south of Kidderminster Railway Station. The rail footbridge spans both the main line railway and adjacent Severn Valley Heritage Railway.
Weighing over 38 tonnes and with a main span of 34 metres, the steel footbridge was purposely left with a weathering steel natural patina effect in keeping with the historic site and the steam trains that pass beneath it. The bridge also provides better access for fans to the nearby Kidderminster Harriers football ground on matchdays.
The completed bridge was delivered to site from the Adey Steel HQ in Loughborough and installed using a single mobile crane during a weekend possession.
