Electrifying Deal – £15M Contract Awarded to Adey Steel
Adey Steel has been awarded a contract to supply Network Rail with fabricated overhead line electrification structures for the Great Western Electrification programme (GWEp).
The contract, which is worth £15m, will run for the next two years. As a result Adey Steel will look to increase capacity at its dedicated production facility in Loughborough by recruiting additional fabricators and welders and by investing in new plant and machinery to assist in the efficient delivery of the works to the Network Rail project teams.
Explained Andrew Adey, Managing Director of the Adey Steel Group: "The opportunity to work with Network Rail on such a large scale infrastructure projects as GWEp is hugely exciting for our business and provides the grounding for growth after a challenging five years within the construction industry”.
The contract confirms Adey Steel’s growing presence in the UK rail sector, one which it plans to continue to focus on as increasing investment is made into the national rail infrastructure on projects such as the Great Western Main Line.
