Footbridge Installation at Cymcynon
Adey Steel has completed the manufacture, supply and install of a major new footbridge at Cymcynon in South Wales.
The Loughborough-based specialist steel infrastructure fabricator was appointed by the contractor to replace a footbridge over the River Cynon that would also connect with an existing bridge leading to the Cwm Cynon Business and Industrial Park.
Adey Steel manufactured both the footbridge and a ramp from the road together with an anti-climb mesh roof over the bridge section. The 20-metre plus structure, which also spans the Aberdare branch of the Merthyr Line, part of the Core Valley Line, was installed over a two-day period in highly challenging weather conditions during the Christmas blockade.
Adey Steel has been extremely busy of late supporting various high-profile rail projects. It has just completed the manufacture, supply and install of a new lift shaft on the north side of Chippenham Station in Wiltshire together with the manufacture and supply of a new overbridge at Hathersage West to replace the current foot crossing.
