Frank Guarasci retires after 20 plus years with Adey Steel
Frank Guarasci has retired after more than 20 years with Adey Steel.
The hugely popular 64-year-old Production Manager has decided to spend more time up in the Lake District among others things after 23 years overseeing the production team at the specialist steel fabricators.
Frank, who has worked in the steel sector for over 40 years, began his working life at Morris Cranes (now known as Kone Cranes) in Loughborough before moving to Adey Steel in 2000.
“Moving to Adey Steel was the best thing I ever did,” recollects Frank, who also lives in Loughborough. “The company has really come a long way since I started working for it in 2000. It’s been through a lot of change, and there have definitely been some highs and lows, but it’s wonderful to see it today as one of the clear market leaders in the steel fabrication sector.
“I’m particularly proud of the role I have played in helping to bring through the next generation of talent into the business such as Adam Newton and Richard Greasley. They are just two of the many people who started as apprentices but have gone onto create really successful careers for themselves. They are the lifeblood of the business and long may this tradition of promoting from within continue at Adey Steel.”
There have been too many highlights at Adey Steel over the past two decades for Frank to mention but the one that does stand out the most if when the company was approached to do some work at Southampton Docks.
“The people at Southampton Docks needed some key cranes stooling up to help off load larger container ships and contacted us. We’d just set up a Special Fabrications division at the time and so we priced up the job, even though we’d never done it before, and a few days later won the job.
“However, Garry Adey (former Chairman of Adey Steel) still had concerns about whether or not we could handle this type of work, but we convinced him we could and we completed the job successfully and never looked back. That’s one of the things I love about Adey Steel, its ability to push the boundaries of what can be done by a steel fabricator.”
Andrew Adey, Managing Director of Adey Steel, added: “We are really going to miss Frank. He’s brought so much to Adey Steel over the last twenty years in terms of passion, professionalism and people skills. We all owe him a huge debt of gratitude for devoting so many years of his life to Adey Steel.
“Frank has really earnt his retirement but if he ever does get bored, he’s always welcome back at Adey Steel in the production team (or any team for that matter).”
