Stuart Gray gets on his marks for Robin Hood Half Marathon
Adey Steel’s Stuart Gray is set to swap his high vis for a running top this weekend when he joins thousands of other runners getting on their marks to take part in the Robin Hood Half Marathon.
The 43-year-old is no stranger to the Robin Hood Half Marathon, one of the longest established and most popular city centre road events in the UK, having participated three times previously.
However, this year will be the first time the Contract Manager at the steel fabrication specialist has completed the 13.1m course around Nottingham for charity.
Stuart will be laced up for the sold-out event on Sunday, September 24 wearing the colours of Rainbows, the new charitable partner of Adey Steel.
Rainbows, who like Adey Steel are based in Loughborough, support hundreds of families every year who have a baby, child or young person with a serious or terminal illness.
“I’ve run the Robin Half Marathon previously but only for fun,” explained Stuart. “This year though I wanted to do something different and when the company announced it would be adopting Rainbows I jumped at the opportunity to lace up for this amazing charity.
“The support I’ve received from everyone within Adey Steel and the wider community in advance of the run has been incredible. There is still time to donate though before I reach the finish line, so if anyone would like to support the work of Rainbows, they are more than welcome.”
Andrew Adey, Managing Director of Adey Steel, added: “It’s great to see Stuart getting on his marks again at the Robin Half Marathon this year for our new charitable partner Rainbows. Stuart is a real credit to Adey Steel and we can’t thank him enough for his fund raising efforts in support of young people with a serious or terminal illness.”
